Hot Brown
Designed by chef Fred K. Schmidt in 1926 at a hotel in Louisville at an evening party, the Hot Brown is a hearty open sandwich stuffed with turkey bacon and covered with Mornay sauce, which, like the white sauce, helps to give the whole an attractive taste and delicious . Variant of the traditional dish Welsh rarebit (or Welsh rabbit), the sandwich was invented as an alternative to the traditional midnight snacks of ham and eggs. Baked or grilled with peppers and tomatoes over the sauce Mornay, which sometimes can be replaced with other sauces, the Hot Brown is easy to prepare, and once well-toasted, or if the sauce becomes colorful, crisp and clear genuine and can be enjoyed at any occasion. |
