Basílica del Voto Nacional
Born from the idea of Father Julio Matovelle in 1883 to build a monument commemorating the consecration er state of Ecuador to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Basilica del Voto Nacional is the largest Gothic style cathedral in the Americas and mimics, in the forms, the cathedrals of Notre Dame in Paris and St. Patrick in New York.
