Frog Cake
A small delicious cake in the shape of the head of a frog with its mouth open. Made of sponge cake and cream, stuffed into delicious jam and covered with icing, the cake is a real delicacy that was constructed in 1922 by a bakery, it quickly became very popular especially in South Australia and the 'idea has given rise to numerous variations in form and color: first the cake was green, but over time were also added to the various options frog cake of brown and pink, while as regards the form, have emerged with time seasonal varieties such as snowmen, Santa Claus and the Easter chick. Described as uniquely South Australian, the frog cake has become an icon of South Australia, which is important so as to be used also in the promotion of tourism. |
