Fingal's Cave
Located on the island of Staffa, Fingal's Cave is a fascinating and beautiful place that is part of the National Nature Reserve of the National Trust for Scotland. Similar to the Giant's Causeway and contemporary Ireland, the cave of Fingal is completely formed by hexagonal basalt columns that has come to form from the cooling of a lava flow occurred 60 million years ago, but what distinguishes it is its size , the arched ceiling and the mysterious sounds produced by the echo of waves that make it look like the cave in a cathedral: the Gaelic name of the cave is Uamh-Binn, cave of Melody. A natural wonder that can be visited on a cruise is so close, is going there on foot landing on the island. |
