Caldo verde
A delicious Portuguese dish capable of satisfying even those who love vegetarian food: the caldo verde (green soup), in fact, is generally made using potatoes, onions and cabbage that sometimes, if you wish, you can add other delicious ingredients such as garlic, salt and olive oil. For those who enjoy intense flavors, however, a recipe of the dish also includes meat such as ham, becoming similar to the Italian-American wedding soup. Often accompanied by slices of chorizo (sausage) or linguica (smoked pork sausage, typical of Portuguese-speaking countries), or with cornbread Portuguese, caldo verde is a dish celebrations such as weddings or the feast of St. John Porto, but, of course, can be comsumato during lunch and dinner daily. |
