Kerststol
Typical of Holland, the kerststol is a delicious Christmas cake very similar to the German Stollen. A delicious sweet bread oval shape that is built using several ingredients (water, milk, flour, yeast, butter, sugar, lemon zest, cardamom, nutmeg, raisins, candied fruit, almonds, brandy and vanilla) that make the a sweet delicacy unique and irresistible for those who love sweet flavors and intense. A scoop of almond paste placed in the center and a dusting of icing sugar over the cake after baking, make it very delicious. Sometimes, the cake can be free of almond paste, thus taking the name of kerstbrood. |
