Appelflappen
Typical Dutch sweet not dissimilar from the bakery, the appelflap is a delicacy made using puff pastry and apples. Triangular in shape, the cake is filled with pieces of apple and cinnamon, which is sometimes added to almond flour, raisins, currants or sultanas, too. During or immediately after cooking the appelflap is sprinkled with sugar, and for the sweet tooth, the appelflap can be prepared using butter instead of margarine and instead flavoring the filling with grated lemon peel. |
