Cepelinai
So called because of their shape reminiscent of a Zeppelin airship, (Cepelinai is precisely the translation Lithuanian Zeppelin), the cepelinai (cepelinas the singular, also called didkukuliai) are a delicious Lithuanian national dish, popular and appreciated in the north East of Poland, too. This is a hearty dish made with grated potatoes stuffed with minced meat or cheese or mushrooms and even after boiling, the cepelinai are served with sour cream sauce, toasted bacon or pork rinds. They are traditionally prepared on holidays and are a real delicacy for those who love the intense flavors of a good table. |
