Welcome to Bard
Inserted in the narrowest part of the Valle d'Aosta, the locality of Bard is famous for its fortress that has been dominating the rocky peak since the Middle Ages and it closes the Dora Baltea valley almost at all. The fortress, which we can admire even today, had been built about in 1000 on some previous roman building, but, the place had probably to be very important, since it was an obligatory passage towards the Gallia in past times. Moreover, there are also some remains, such as the smooth rockies and the engraving rocks, which make us to think of the first probable settlements of 2000 B.C. Bard is characterized by a typical mild climate most of the year, and the typic local agricolture is practised here in Bard. |
