Made with chickpea flour, water and parsley, the fritters are a delicious specialty of Palermo, a specialty gourmet spread to other Sicilian cities like Trapani, Agrigento and Caltanissetta and, traditionally, are inserted inside consumed sandwiches with sesame seeds, round and soft, which are denominated in Sicilian mafalde, sometimes accompanied with potato croquettes with parsley (cazzilli calls) or other specialty fried in batter, and season to taste with salt and lemon. A delicacy that can be purchased in chip shops also walking along the streets while walking to the discovery of the splendors of Sicily. |
