The Historic Downtown
Rich in history, the historical center of Casarano is a must for lovers of art and culture here, in fact, visitors can see historic buildings such as Palazzo Astore, palace palace D'Elia and De Judicibus. Mansion of the seventeenth century, the Palazzo Astore is characterized by a rusticated ashlar portal and windows also surrounded by decorative lace, while the Palazzo D'Elia, the sixteenth century, opens with an imposing facade of the square. The portal of the Palazzo D'Elia is surmounted by the coat of arms depicting the prophet Elijah on a cart as it passes through the flames. The building, owned by the municipality, was the seat of the district court during the Kingdom of Italy. Municipal property is the seventeenth-century Palazzo De Judicibus, characterized by an elegant balustrade and two windows to the heart. |
