Torre del Pizzo
Located in Punta Pizzo, the Tower, once called the Catriero or Cutrera, was built to defend the Salento peninsula in 1569 by order of Charles V. The tower blocks realizzatacon regular, has a base shaped like a truncated cone to continue, after the curb, with a cylindrical shape. The tower stands on a triangular protuberance on the top visible from afar. The Peak Tower, as well as the other towers built to defend the coast of Gallipoli, deserves to be visited by lovers of history and culture. |
