Torre Sabea
Built to protect the local coastline, Torre Sabea, known by the inhabitants of Gallipoli by the name of Old Tower, was built in the sixteenth century and located in the village crucifix. Small in size, the tower is shaped like a truncated pyramid with three drains on each side. Recently restored, the tower has a vaulted ceiling, the well, the fireplace and chimney. As can be seen from various historical documents, the tower was known in antiquity as the Tower of Punta Spea or knew, the tower is now a must for lovers of history and culture. |
