An ancient village placed in a little natural gulf and with wonderful rocks that overlook the sea and its crystalline waters that inspired the famous Ligurian poet Eugenio Montale in a lot of his works. Thanks to the charming of the Golfo dei Poeti (the Poets' Gulf), Monterosso can offer a warm welcoming with typical restaurant where you can taste the local dish.
Behind the suggestive hills with grapevines and olive trees, a wonderful promenade will let you rech the Semaforo (lit.: the traffic lighter), an old and abandoned lighthouse where you can enjoy a wonderful sea-view. Moreover, Monterosso offers, thanks to the sand beaches and one of the most limid sea in Italy, unforgettable day for the rowing and sailing, while with its splendid bottom the underwater activities is surely one of the most tourist attraction. In the little streets of the historic centre you can admire the ancient church dedicate to St Giovanni Battista of the XIV century, while the Fegina beach is dominated by the famous Statua del Gigante (the Giant's Statue), become the symbol of Monterosso. The work, built at the beginning of the Nineteenth century, represents the sea God Nettuno who holds the terrace of a splendid villa on his shoulders. |
