Palazzi dei Rolli
Magnificent palaces that deserve to be visited by those who love history and culture and those who go on vacation in Genoa, the Palazzi dei Rolli each represent a period of history of the city and well worth visiting for their splendor. This is excellent palaces and mansions of the noble families who wanted to host, on the basis of a public drawing of lots, the highest figures in transit for state visits. The term comes from the word Rolli rolls and were built from 1576 on the orders of the Senate aristocratic refounded by the prince and admiral Andrea Doria, admiral and Italian politician of the Republic of Genoa. It's 42 historical buildings in Genoa, many of whom, like Angelo Giovanni Spinola Palace, Palazzo Podestà, Palazzo Doria Tursi, Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Rosso) can be found in the ancient Strada Nuova, or Via Garibaldi. Others, such as Palazzo Durazzo-Pallavicini, Palazzo Gio Francesco Balbi, Palazzo Balbi-Senarega and the Royal Palace can be found in the stately Via Balbi, while still others are found along other streets. Beautiful chandeliers and beautiful facades are able to suggest the charm and beauty of these buildings is no coincidence declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. |
