Saint Mary Major
Built to the wishes of Pope Liberius (so that the church is also known by the name of the Liberian Basilica), the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (known, among other things, the name of Santa Maria della Neve of a legend by scone where the Madonna appeared in a dream to the Pope, expressing its desire to build a church where the snow had settled) is one of the four papal basilicas of Rome. On the top of the Esquiline Hill, is the only one to have preserved its original structure, although early Christian enriched by successive additions.
