Meat combined with various ingredients that can change during execution, the ragù is a perfect sauce to flavor dishes, making them very tasty. Often made using celery, carrots and onions, the ragù is also suitable for flavoring baked and, especially in southern Italy, where it is made with whole pieces of meat or meatballs with minced meat, the sauce is misused as a generic synonym term of sugo (sauce).
