Brandenburg Gate
Symbol of German unity, the Brandenburg Gate is one of the major tourist sites throughout Germany. Located between the districts of Mitte and Tiergarten, the Brandenburg Gate is the western end point of the boulevard Unter den Linden at the Pariser Platz. Stone with Doric columns, a height of 26 meters and a width of 65 meters, the port is the most famous monument of the city and is a must for anyone who goes on holiday in Berlin. Rich in history, the monument has a special political significance: it was here that in 80 years, during the Cold War, Ronald Reagan spoke to the General Secretary of the CPSU Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the wall and inviting him to open the door. |
