Rollmops
Typical of the German cuisine, the rollmops are delicious pickled herring fillets marinated in vinegar and white wine, that is flavored with essence of coriander, giving it an intense and delicious flavor; gutted, boned and privated of the head and of the tail, the herring wraps a filling, usually a cucumber or a pickled onion. Sometimes, the filling may be constituted by an green olive or the pimento, variants that can obviously change according to personal taste. This delightful product, whose preparation is not so difficult, is unique of its kind, and mustr be tasted to rediscover the intense flavours of good taste and good food, and it is no coincidence that they are well-known and appreciated even outside the boundaries of Germany. The herrings, after winding the pickle, are skewered with a toothpick thus assuming a cylindrical shape (hence its name rollmops), and are an ideal starter to open a special dinner or a special lunch for the delight of your guests. |
