Calissons
With probable origins of medieval Venetian, the calissons are unique delicacies able to delight those who love sweets and especially intense: composed of a homogeneous paste made from candied fruit and almonds and covered with a thin smooth layer of icing, the cupcakes are typical of calissons France that have a structure similar to that of marzipan, but distinctly fruity flavor. Traditionally made in the shape of almonds, the calissons are associated with the city of Aix-en-Provence, France, so most of the world's supply of calisson yet taken place in the region of Provence. |
