Vanochka
Substantially similar to a brioche, the vanochka is a kind of very delicious Christmas bread typical of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Made with eggs and butter, (the ingredients that make it just like a brioche), lemon peel and nutmeg which help to give flavor and color to all, vanochka is a true delicacy that can satisfy even the most refined. Sometimes, the mixture can contain raisins, almonds, and is woven like the challah, a traditional Jewish bread precisely shaped braid. This plot is sometimes interpreted as an image that recalls the figure of the Child Jesus wrapped in swaddling clothes with a particular and lying in a manger. |
