Plitvice Lakes
Founded in 1949, the National Park Plitvice Lakes is located in karst mountainous area of Croatia, on the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina, and is today, with over one million annual visitors, one of the most popular destinations of the entire nation. It is no coincidence, in fact, it is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Site and recorded among the first natural sites around the world. With stringent laws to protect the local environment, the park turns out to be a truly impressive: an extraordinary turquoise waters, unspoiled nature, fauna and flora, remarkable, stunning waterfalls and many other features help make the park really charming and a must for nature lovers. Result of the confluence of small rivers and underground karst rivers, the lakes are separated by natural dams of travertine, which are formed as a deposit of moss, algae and bacteria, and these wonderful lakes are characterized above all the nuance of color of all details ranging from 'blue to green to blue and gray, colors that change constantly depending on the amount of minerals in water bodies and the angle of sunlight.
