Poás Volcano
Located in central Costa Rica, not far from the capital San Jose, the Poás is one of the most visited natural sites in the country thanks to its favorable geographical location. Protected by the institution of the national park, not far from the volcano you can follow paths ideal for nature lovers because of the spectacular scenic vegetation and fauna occurring in the vicinity. Of basaltic nature, the Poás is unoi stratovolcano that reaches a height of 2708 meters. The largest crater has a diameter of about 1.5 kilometers and a depth of 300 meters, which is present on the bottom of a lake from which sulphurous gases rise, and this is why it is linked to the activities of the Poás to that of a geyser. Another crater, called Botos, is home to another lake, unlike the first characterized by cold water, and connected to the rivers Rio Angel and Rio Sarapiqui.
