Carriels
Practical and comfortable, the leather bags are Carriel (or sometimes leather) for men and are a product of Colombia, more specifically the Department of Antioquia. Used since colonial times and circulated mainly when Antioquia was a largely agricultural region, the Carriel were comfortable and useful, particularly during the transport of arrieros, (that men carrying goods on board of animals), with the convenience of having either the numerous pockets and the various compartments (some of whom called secrets) are the characteristics that make these bags very functional and handy Colombian. If at one time, then, were used for transportation, today Carriel have assumed a symbolic significance, historical and cultural heritage for Colombia and it is no coincidence that they are now used by businessmen. |
