Sheikh Zayed
Located in Abu Dhabi, the Grand Mosque Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose name is dedicated to the sheik who presided over the destiny of the UAE until his death (which occurred at the end of 2004), is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates. Built of reinforced concrete covered with slabs of rare marble from Pietrasanta (Italy), the structure is able to accommodate up to 40000 persons, and if the exterior is imposing and majestic, the inside is worth visiting for the beautiful decorations plaster covering the Muslim world, in addition, the mosque has world-leading features: a prestigious main dome, a massive chandelier and a leading handmade carpet (known to be the largest in the world, as indeed the chandelier) and much more are the various features that the visitor can see on the structure. The mosque is worth visiting for the decorations carved in marble for the realization of which were employed rare stones and tough.
